Lino Sumangil

Lino Sumangil was a rich man and son of Don Cornelio Sumangil and Juliana Ringor-Sumangil*. His other siblings were Ambrosia, Rosa, Antonia, Feliciana, Father Cirilo Sr. and Domingo Sumangil**.

In 1901, Lino became the first Municipal Treasurer of Cuyapo when the American military government was abolished and the civil government was established. He served along with Don Mariano Flores and Don Saturnino Corpus who continued their terms as Presidente Municipal and Vice Presidente Municipal respectively*.

In 1902, Cuyapo's first Municipal Treasurer Lino Sumangil, together with Presidente Municipal Mariano Flores with the help of Don Basilio Aromin, registered the Cuyapo Plaza with an area of about ten (10) kilometers and the Roman Catholic Chruch with an area of one (1) hectare*.

He was also a member of the INTERDICTO, an organization against haciendas formed by the leaders of three (3) towns, namely Cuyapo and Nampicuan in Nueva Ecija, and Anao in Tarlac*.

Don Cornelio Sumangil

In 1871, Cornelio Sumangil from Sta Maria, Ilocos Sur arrived in Cuyapo and built his home in Sitio Latap. He met and married Juana Ringor, also from Ilocos Sur and started a family. The couple were hard working, thrifty and industrious so they were blessed with several tracts of land numbering to about a hundred hectares.The authorities noticed how wealthy the couple had become such that Cornelio became a Cabeza de Barangay*.

They had children namely, Ambrosia, Rosa, Antonia, Feliciana, Cirilo, Domingo** and Lino Sumangil*.
