"Jong" as he is commonly called, is one of the sons of Jesus "Susing" Sunangil and Josefina Herbano of Los Banos, Laguna. His siblings are Los Banos Vice Mayor Josephine "Baby" Sumangil-Evangelista, Julia "Nene", Jesus Jr "Sonny", and Joel. He is married to Catherine Mae. They have two (2) children namely Eduardo Jesus and Joselito Jr.
Jong is a former educator, a multi-talented artist and a natural born musician. He has composed more than two hundred (200) original Filipino songs one of which has been recorded and popularized by the group 5th Gear, entitled Hanggang Kailan.
He also joined a national televison's (TV 5)talent search Talentadong Pinoy hosted by Ryan Agoncillo.
Just recently (June 3, 2011), his composition "Luntian" bagged the Grand Prize in the ERDB's Earth Day Song Writing Contest.
Jong is also into public service and a barangay councilman of Anos, Los Banos, Laguna (2010 - ).
