Danilo or "Daniel grew up in Talugtug, Nueva Ecija. His father is a cousin of Apo Padi Cirilo Sr. They lived in Sabit, a barangay of Cuyapo, where his children Marilyn, Jing Dona Sumangil-Schoen, Zaldy, Josephine and Evelyn grew up. They are now back and live in Barangay Culiat, Talugtug, Nueva Ecija.
Democrito "Atring" Sumangil is his brother.
