Don Cornelio Sumangil

In 1871, Cornelio Sumangil from Sta Maria, Ilocos Sur arrived in Cuyapo and built his home in Sitio Latap. He met and married Juana Ringor, also from Ilocos Sur and started a family. The couple were hard working, thrifty and industrious so they were blessed with several tracts of land numbering to about a hundred hectares.The authorities noticed how wealthy the couple had become such that Cornelio became a Cabeza de Barangay*.

They had children namely, Ambrosia, Rosa, Antonia, Feliciana, Cirilo, Domingo** and Lino Sumangil*.
